Boats and Butlers was founded in 2002
by Alex Goulden and Shawn Lunt with the simple mission to
provide both our resident and non-resident clients with
a single point of contact for all their marine maintenance
and concierge service needs.
The
founders have extensive experience in dealing with clients
who place a premium on personal service, flexibility and
privacy and it is these needs that provide the building
blocks for all of our client relationships.
The uniqueness of our client base allows
us to provide a much more complete range of services to
a smaller clientele. Thus, unlike our competitors our
clients are much more then a number; we seek to become
the quarterback of all of an individual client’s
marine and concierge requirements.
The company has formulated a number of strategic
relationships with other services providers that will
allows us to meet just about any request we receive. So
please browse our site and let us manage all of your marine
maintenance and servicing needs.

All trailers should be checked at the
beginning of the season to ensure that they are in working
order. This would include wheel bearings, springs, tire
pressure and tread condition, runners, rollers, pulley
cable, and a general rust inspection.
The vessel should be hauled from the
water and moved to a secure area. Try to store away
from large Coconut trees, power poles.
If your boat is an inboard/outboard,
remove drain plug to allow rainwater to drain from engine
room. If you have an outboard engine, it might be possible
to leave the drain plug in and add some water to increase
the weight of the boat. Please check with a professional
before flooding hull.
4. Remove any and all electronics, bimini
tops, cushions, boat covers, remove or lower radio antennas
and secure metal bimini frames.
Boats in Water Hurricane Season
Check Dock Lines and cleats on dock,
use new lines if possible, older lines have lost a lot
of their strength and stretching ability due to exposure
to the elements.
Secure large fenders on dock and boat
to help prevent damage to boat if it is slamming against
dock from wind or rough seas.
If possible, drop anchor or anchors off
opposite side of boat to hold boat away from dock. All
dock lines should be checked and adjusted for rising
tides.
Be sure to check and charge all batteries,
ensure bilge pumps and float switches are operating.
Be sure that there is no debris in the bilge that can
obstruct the bilge pump from operating properly.
Remove all soft tops, covers, and cushions.
Secure metal frames and lower radio antennas.
Be sure that boat engines are running
well with a full tank of fuel, you might have to move
the boat unexpectedly!
And be sure to call
Boats and Butlers if you have questions. Any questions
that are asked are good questions!
A native of Alberta Canada, Shawn in 1987 became
a PADI dive instructor and left the harsh winters of Edmonton,
for the warmer waters of the Caribbean. As a Dive Manager and
Director of Guest Relations for Club Med Resorts, Shawn traveled
the world with Club Med for 5 years. Following his time with Club
Med Shawn moved to Turks & Caicos Islands to help build a
boat tour company now a major tour operator in the region. After
4 years in the Turks and Caicos Shawn and his Wife moved to the
Cayman Islands to manage Dive Tiara Dive Resort in Cayman Brac.
3 ½ years later, he moved to Grand Cayman to start a new
career in Yacht Management. With his vast experience in the Service
and the Marine industry it seemed to be a perfect fit.
Shawn and his partner Alex Goulden have teamed
up to form Boats & Butlers Ltd. and they both look forward
providing their clients with an unmatched level of service in
meeting all their concierge, marine and vacationing needs. Whether
it’s caring for a client’s home or boat, Boats &
Butlers knows that both, lost time and lost trust, are irreplaceable.

Shawn (Boats and Butlers Ltd.) is courteous, prompt
and extremely professional. I feel completely at ease calling
him from my home in the US to have him prepare my boat and my
home for my arrival in Grand Cayman. He has a set of keys and
keeps everything maintained and running smoothly while I am off
the Island.
Satisfied Client
Newark, New Jersey
On our most recent trip Shawn suggested having
Sea Kayaks delivered to the house for the week. He then arranged
for both delivery and pick-up of the kayaks allowing for both
my wife and I to focus on the more important things. The kids
had a great time out by the reef and we were able to relax knowing
that should we need anything arranged Shawn was just a phone call
away.
